Is MTV casting for "natural hair" or "I hate my hair"

After getting excited about the casting call for the "MTV True Life" series now focusing on African American women and the transition to Natural Hair my high is plummeting to an all time low.

This morning it was brought to my attention the main page of the MTV Castings for the series. As I looked I didn't see a call for Natural Hair, I only saw "I hate my hair." So I shared that with my source and was quickly directed to the "I hate my hair" blurb. Same info, similar wording and definitely same contact information.

So, research was in order as I looked for the initial blurb about the "natural hair" search and this is what I found...

Is your hair your obsession? How are you struggling with your hair? Do you feel natural hair would let you embrace your true self, and you want to go for the “big chop?” Why now? What has held you back up to this moment? We would like to follow someone who is ready to do the “big chop” and follow them on their journey as they transition into their natural hair.
If you appear to be between the ages of 15 -28 and would like us to document your transition to natural hair, email us at casting@lintonmedia.com and tell us about your story. Please include your name, location, phone number and recent photos of yourself.
Ok, seem okay right? Well, take a look at the blurb on the actual MTV website for I hate my hair and be sure to click the link to see all listings for future calls...

TRUE LIFE: I HATE MY HAIR
Is your hair your obsession? Do you spend hours of your day and week to style and manage your hair? Are you digging yourself into a financial hole just to deal with your hair? Do you have unwanted hair, or not the "right" hair? Are you someone with a hormone imbalance that leads to hair loss, or facial hair growth?

How does your hair affect your social life? Does your hair make you feel unattractive and affect how you interact with members of the opposite sex? Do your friends and family think you are out of control with your hair obsession? Are you undergoing a procedure to alter your hair or do you go to great lengths to manage it?

If you appear to be between the ages of 15 -28 and have hair that's making you unhappy, email us at casting@lintonmedia.com and tell us about your story. Please include your name, location, phone number and recent photos of yourself.
Could be me, could be wrong, but I highly doubt it although I really hope I am. If this is true... I'm not sure what I can see about MTV anymore, if anything at all.

That would be so wrong if they market it as going through a natural hair journey only to title the show I Hate My Hair. I wouldn't doubt it tho. MTV can never seem to come correct when it comes to black people.

This is really disturbing. Like the comment above, if this show titled "I hate my hair" becomes episode after episode of black women struggling with their natural (or even permed) hair, it's trouble. Black hair does not need to be demonized and I'm tired of mainstream media being obsessed with things about black culture which it knows nothing about and doesn't bother to do responsible research to reveal the truth. I don't watch MTV and I stopped watching a loooong time ago. Viacom is no friend of the black community.
